Diary of a Dermaroller / Medical Skin Needling Treatment
Im in my 60s so I suppose you could say its fair that I wasn’t expecting too much could be done for me and my wrinkles at this stage of my life. But having had this treatment I have to confess to being pleasantly surprised at what can be achieved without going anywhere near the surgeons knife.
I have several health complaints you see so I was quite nervous at the thought of having any sort of operation. A non surgical option seemed a much easier and safer option. I kept watching that 10 Years Younger programme and wondering what could be done for me. Every time I've looked in the mirror the lines just seem to be getting worse and worse. When you watch that programme it gives you hope that maybe something could be done to make things look better. I'm not asking to look like Cheryl Cole but any improvement would be nicer than nothing. I'd thought about those laser treatments but to be honest I didn't fancy spending that kind of money or needing to have too many treatments.
It took me a while to pluck up the courage to pick up the phone to my nearest clinic, Complete Rejuvenation, but I needn't have made such a fuss – the clinic manager was lovely, very understanding and sympathetic. Even just talking to her helped me to start feeling a lot more comfortable about the whole thing. Before I knew it I was booked in for my initial consultation.
I thought it was a chemical peel that I needed but I'm glad I discussed things with the clinic first – it turned out that I would be much better off with a dermaroller / medical skin needling treatment. And so it was – the big day was booked in and all I had to do was count off the days before my new skin was delivered.
I have to admit I was fairly nervous. I was really worried about how much it would hurt. But again, silly me, the clinic took care of all of that. First they applied a cream to my face (topical anaesthetic). This was continually massaged in during what seemed a lovely pampering session. Then the doctor began the treatment. I was really surprised how easy it was – marks out of ten, I'd say it was merely a 1 as far as any discomfort was concerned, the whole thing was a breeze.
Afterwards the doctor sent me on my way armed with special creams to help my skin heal. Admittedly I didn't look my best immediately afterwards but I'd made sure I wasn’t going out anywhere. For the next couple of days it looked like I had a bit of sunburn but it was nothing that couldn’t be covered up with make up. Sometimes my skin felt a bit tight but I just kept putting on the cream the doctor had prescribed and this seemed to help a lot. Remembering to use the sunscreen was my trouble especially as it wasn’t too sunny outside but I put the cream where I'd see it so I wouldn't forget.
Just a couple of weeks on I can see a dramatic difference in the improvement of my skin. Tighter, smoother and healthier looking, it was definitely worthwhile. The wrinkles are looking much better and my skin's looking smoother than it has for years.
