Laser Lipo

How does it work?

Laser paddles are placed on the area to be treated. A laser beam penetrates the skin just deep enough to reach the layers of fat. When this beam reaches the fat cells it causes a chain of events to take place. Pores form on the fat cell’s membrane causing them to empty out their contents (including glycerol and fatty acids). These move in to the interstitial space. The fat cells are as a result reduced in size. These effects do not affect neighbouring structures such as skin, blood vessels or nerves. The lymphatic system then removes the fat through the venous system where it is processed in the same way as fatty foods are digested, only in reverse.

Unlike body wraps, this treatment treats actual fat cells within the body. Please also note that this laser is the original and first of its kind using the latest technology. Both ILipo and the Strawberry Laser work using the same principles.

Does it hurt?

Laser lipo is a completely pain free treatment. The laser’s beam is only effective 13 mm below the skins surface, where the fat cells are located and nowhere near any nerve endings. If you feel anything at all during your treatment it will be a sensation of warmth. It really is a very relaxing and comfortable treatment.

How long does it take?

Each treatment takes 40 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?

A course of 8 treatments is recommended, ideally twice a week, over 4 weeks.

Is there any scarring?

No incisions are made whatsoever in this treatment.

Is it safe?

Laser Lipo is a completely safe treatment.

Are there any side effects?

Patients with a deep tan may experience temporary redness in the treatment area. Some patients experience marginally looser stools, slightly faster bowel movements and/or possibly a gentle increase in thirst. These effects are often so slight they often go unnoticed. This just shows that the lymphatic system is eliminating fat from the body.

I have a pre-existing medical condition. Can I still have laser lipo treatments?

The clinic is supervised by an expert medical practitioner. Our therapist operates within strict protocols to ensure the safe use of this equipment. Your therapist will be glad to advise you on your suitability for treatment.

How will I feel afterwards?

You will as if you have been for a relaxing treatment.

Will I need to wear any restrictive garments afterwards?

No this is not necessary.
