Dermal Fillers - FAQs
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable volumising treatments. You may be familiar with their brand names: Juvederm and Restylane. Both of these treatments work in the same way. They are based on hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance found in the body which we make less of as we age. Hyaluronic acid helps hydrate and add volume to our skin. Not just used for cosmetic treatments, hyaluronic acid is also used by doctors for medical procedures such as eye and joint surgeries.
What are dermal fillers used for?
These treatments can be used to fill wrinkles, restore lost volume or even add volume where required. It is usually used in the lower half of the face although it can be used as an alternative to Botox in the forehead area. It is great for adding volume to the lips and cheeks, filling in folds in areas such as nose to mouth lines, correcting oral commissures, treating perioral wrinkles, marionette lines etc.
