Non surgical lipo is a new procedure, available at our clinics in Essex, that can target specific areas for fat loss in the same way that traditional liposuction does. However it does this without the disadvantages and risks associated with surgery. While diet and exercise are helpful in keeping slim, they are not perfect, and now targeted weight loss is possible without going under the knife.

Non surgical lipo vs traditional liposuction

Traditional surgical lipo can be risky in several ways:

• Because the skin is cut to perform the procedure, there is a risk of bacteria settling in the incision site, leading to infection. Without prompt attention to infection, it can spread rapidly to other areas of the body, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake.
• Surgical lipo is generally done under general anaesthesia, which comes with its own set of risk factors. Non surgical lipo does not carry these risks:

• No opening in the skin is required with non surgical  lipo, eliminating the potential for an incision to become infected. Local, rather than general anaesthetic is used. Therefore, blood clots in the lungs are not a factor.

How non surgical lipo works

Laser Lipo, one of the new non surgical lipo procedures, involves the use of a special laser to rid the targeted area of fat. It is generally done as an out-patient procedure, often in the comfort of your physician's office. Specially designed paddles are held to the skin's surface in the targeted area. The paddles emit a painless laser that targets the fat cells, eliminating them.

There is a reason general anaesthesia is used for traditional surgical liposuction. It is painful. The anaesthesia allows the procedure to be done without the patient feeling if. After the anaesthesia wears off, however, there is a good deal of pain. With non surgical lipo, pain is not a factor. Most patients report feeling only a warm sensation where the paddles are placed.

It can take several weeks to fully recover from surgical lipo procedures, part of which may have to be spent in a hospital where your condition can be monitored.
