Beware of DIY Botox in Essex

Search online and you will find dozens of companies queuing up to send you vials of liquid and syringes in the post. You can even find out on You Tube how to inject botox yourself right here in Essex. But is it really a good idea?

According to Nigel Hunter, President of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons, there are several things that can go wrong. “As well as bruising and bleeding, you also run the risk of  hitting a nerve by mistake.  This can result in a loss of sensation, paralysing the muscle, and droopy eyes.  If you inject too much you could end up with a very unnatural surprised look that you are stuck with months or you could even become allergic to it.  If you put it in the wrong part of your chin you could have a droopy lip and end up drooling for months”.

Dangers of DIY Botox in Essex

  • In addition there is also the risk of skin necrosis, which could result in your nose totally dropping off or at the very least, the permanent loss of huge chunks of skin.
  • Injecting Botox isn’t as easy as it may seem.
  • Not only can Botox only be injected at very specific points on the face, but even the angle of the needle needs to be precise, hence why only experienced injectors are permitted and insured to administer this medical grade product.

Maybe that cheap Botox online isn’t looking such a great deal after all?

Who are you buying your DIY Botox from?

If you buy anything on line you take your chances who you are buying from.  No respectable organisation in Essex or anywhere in the UK would sell Botox, a medical product, directly to a consumer. In this country it is actually illegal to sell Botox without a prescription but some suppliers have found ways around this. But what sort of cowboy outfit would be happy to accept a prescription not worth the paper its written on and from a doctor who hasn’t even seen the patient? Still dodgy cowboy sellers do exist – and if their selling practices are dodgy then what exactly can be trusted?  Botox kits have been seen on Ebay and the sellers have been forced to remove them. The law is however only enforceable in this country, meaning that foreign sites can slip through the net. This really is a case of a buyer beware because if anything were to go wrong, there would be no course of redress.

Is it even Botox?

DIY Botox EssexNot only can you as a consumer not be entirely sure of who is selling you Botox online but how can you be sure that what you are buying isn’t merely a vial of saline? Consider yourself lucky if that’s all you got sent – what can be ordered online could even be something capable of doing harm to more than your wallet. Many cases have been presented to doctors where patients have injected contaminated materials into their skin with disastrous results. Unless a product is approved for medical use and the purpose for which it is intended, and it is administered using sterile needles – the potential for infection and rejection of the material by the body is huge. Put something in your skin that you shouldn’t and within days or hours even you could start to see serious inflammation, severe blisters, swelling – and that’s just the start of your problems. Only when the foreign body is surgically removed (i.e. cut out of the face) can you start to make a recovery but you might be left with scars that never heal.

Botox is commonly used to enhance our beauty – think carefully whether it really is worth taking any risks that could leave you looking far from beautiful. Botox should only be supplied by reputable organisations and only administered by doctors.
